Pony Homecoming Club

Pony is a small community nestled against the breathtaking Tobacco Root Mountains in southwestern Montana. Formerly a bustling mining community, Pony is now a registered historic district with a population of a hundred people. It’s a popular spot for outdoor recreation, music, weddings and other events.

Volunteers run everything! The Pony Homecoming Club is a non-profit organization that maintains the buildings and public spaces that serve the community and beyond as well as helping to preserve the history and stories of its colorful past.

The Homecoming Club of Pony Mission is:

  • to promote and encourage the general welfare of the community of Pony, Montana and its surrounding communities
  • to aid and encourage community service and social exchange of said communities
  • to service and maintain the Pony Park and the historical buidlings and monuments of Pony

  1.  The gym.
  2. The white church.
  3. The park. Open air (obviously!)

100% volunteer

Pony Homecoming is run by volunteers. Your event money, annual membership dues, and donations help cover community event costs and contribute to essential maintenance for this historic town.

Someone first found gold here...Was it Tecumseh Smith? Or was it Smith Tecumseh? Or McDempsy? Maybe it was Smith Mccomsey...

 

– Who is the Pony legend?

Then someone remembered this character, a diminutive prospecting wanderer, answered to "Pony". The name stuck.

He had long since vanished to parts unknown when those following his tracks arrived. They nicknamed the creek...

and a gulch after him. A fitting tribute to a short-statured miner who named the booming mining camp that became Pony, a little town with a big heart.

The Pony Homecoming Club was established in 1961 to provide a sense of community for Pony, Harrison, Norris and surrounding areas. We hold annual fundraisers to help in our mission to preserve the historic buildings we are responsible for and to support, enrich and enhance the Pony and surrounding communities.

We always welcome donations to help preserve the buildings and build community in this beautiful historical town and surrounding areas. The Pony Homecoming Club is a non-profit organization, 501(c)(3), which means that your donations are tax deductible.
